Glucose media player

A file will not play.
Glucose plays common video and audio formats, but unusual or older codecs depend on what your system supports. Check that you are on Windows 10 or newer (64-bit), and tell us the file type if it still fails.
Subtitles are not showing.
Press C or S to toggle them. Glucose reads SRT, VTT, ASS, SSA and SUB files, and subtitle tracks embedded in MKV and MP4 files.
AI subtitle generation is slow or inaccurate.
Whisper runs on your own machine. Smaller models are faster, larger ones are more accurate, so try a different model size.
It did not resume where I stopped.
Glucose saves your position in each file automatically. Moving or renaming a file may make it look like a new one.

Browser extension

Nothing is being translated.
Turn on the site's own captions first. The extension translates what the player shows, so it cannot read captions burned into the picture or drawn on a canvas (Crunchyroll). A player without text tracks that is not on the supported list is left alone.
It translates from the wrong language.
Click the extension icon and set the language the captions are in. Detection can get it wrong.
The first translation takes a while.
Most language pairs need a one-time download of about 110 MB, kept on your device afterwards. Use the Download button in the popup to fetch it ahead of time. Finnish to English works straight away.
I cannot find the extension icon.
Pin it from the puzzle-piece menu in your toolbar. Alt+Shift+T turns translation on and off.
Translation pauses for a few seconds in Safari.
Safari unloads the extension when it is idle, so the model loads again after a pause. This is a Safari limit.
